HISTORY

Kelly Lane offers a vibrant and thoughtful collection of organic clothing for women and children, handmade-to-order in Pittsburgh, PA. Founder and designer Kelly L. Simpson-Scupelli creates custom artwork for her textiles and infuses each collection with unique combinations of color, texture, and prints. With over 10 years of experience designing and handcrafting her designs, Kelly’s artfully sophisticated clothing is versatile and easy-to-wear. Through her new project, Remnant Lab, Kelly partners with local artists and designers to create a collection of sustainable, handmade accessories and home textiles.

APPROACH

Kelly takes inspiration from childhood memories and her world today. Each season, she creates custom prints, color palettes, and silhouettes that draw upon this theme, creating a cohesive and compelling visual story. A formally trained graphic designer, Bauhaus influences Kelly’s work – her designs emphasize both art and craftsmanship. Her compositions of color, texture, and custom prints take shape through carefully hand-constructed patterns. Through Remnant Lab, Kelly offers jewelry, clutches, totes, pillows, and wall hangings that compliment her clothing collections and bring new life to her reserve of salvaged cut materials.

FUTURE

Since establishing her company in 2006, Kelly evolved her business to include collections for women, children, and the home. With the launch of Remnant Lab, Kelly brings her design sensibility to this distinctive collection of décor and personal accessories. The project diverts textile waste away from landfills and reclaims it for high-quality, one-of-a-kind home goods that tell a story. She welcomes custom commissions from interior designers and inquiries from like-minded creatives interested in recovering leftovers from their production processes.
