Daniel Buchanan founded Studio Glass Company in 2008. He specializes in lighting, tableware, architectural elements, and original artwork. A professional artist since the mid 1990s, Dan found his passion for glass in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where he apprenticed in several studios. Dan moved east and attended Carnegie Mellon University to study studio art. After earning his degree, Dan started the Studio Glass Company to showcase and promote his dynamic kiln-formed glass designs.
Dan appreciates glass for its aesthetic beauty, permanence, and technical demands. This passion drives Dan to create a variety of kiln-formed products including table lamps, wall sconces, bowls, plates, tiles, and wall art. Dan’s collection features powder printed imagery and designs. Through the powder printing process, Dan employs traditional screen printing methods, replacing ink with glass powders and paper with sheets of glass. The detailed layers of imagery are then fused together in the kiln to create heavily textured images.
Open to collaboration and customized products, Dan looks forward expanding Studio Glass Company’s mark on the design community. Dan has created custom wall sconces, tile back splashes, windows, and signage for private and corporate clients, including The Allegheny Regional Asset District.
