Worker Bird

Established in 2012 by Kim Fox, Worker Bird is a multidisciplinary studio producing mixed media projects ranging from home goods to custom murals. A trained artist and printmaker, Kim Fox explores a variety of creative processes in her work. She skillfully makes tin signs and artwork from reclaimed wood and metal. Her illustrations and murals are free-form and sketched by hand. Her latest textile designs blend these two approaches. A Pennsylvania native, Kim grew up in Stahlstown, PA. Today, Kim is inspired by imagery from her childhood and Pittsburgh’s changing landscape.

Kim harnesses her creative capacities for Worker Bird’s signature goods and custom projects. An illustrator, builder, painter, collector, salvager, designer, and sewer, she draws inspiration and materials from the world around her. From salvaged custom tin house numbers to bold murals, Kim’s capacity for crafting interior and exterior design elements is boundless. Her skills and unique aesthetic turns everyday subjects into timeless expressions.

Kim welcomes collaboration from Pittsburgh businesses and beyond. Working with Bootstrap Design Co., Kim recently created large chalkboard murals for Earth Inspired Salads in Pittsburgh’s Alcoa Building. The custom design illustrates the fresh ingredients of the restaurant’s menu.
